Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Does Installation Take?

It’s difficult to give an exact timeframe without a site visit, as every home is unique. The duration of installation can vary depending on several factors, including preparation. For example, removing old flooring, levelling the subfloor, or installing moisture barriers can all add extra time to the process.

The type of product you choose also plays a big role. A floating installation is generally quicker, as the planks simply click together without glue, while a glue-down installation (often with rubber underlay) takes longer. More detailed patterns such as herringbone, chevron, or Versailles require extra precision and therefore more time. We provide an accurate timeline once we’ve inspected the space and confirmed the preparation requirements and chosen product.

What’s The Difference Between Engineered Timber & Hybrid Flooring?

Engineered timber flooring is made with a real hardwood surface bonded to a stable multi-layer base. This gives you the authentic look and feel of natural timber, with unique grain patterns and warmth in every plank. Because the top layer is real wood, engineered floors can often be sanded and refinished, making them a long-lasting choice that adds real value to your home.

Hybrid flooring, on the other hand, is a man-made product designed to look like timber while offering extra durability and practicality. Made from a rigid core with a protective surface, it is 100% waterproof, scratch-resistant, and easy to maintain, which makes it a great option for a busy household.

Do You Offer Supply-Only Or Supply & Install?

Yes. While most of our clients choose our full supply & install service, we also provide supply-only options for builders, DIY renovators, and trade professionals. All products are backed by manufacturer warranties for peace of mind.

What Flooring Is Best If I Have Pets?

We all love our four-legged friends, so it’s important to keep them in mind when choosing new flooring, especially if they share the home with the rest of the family.

Hybrid, Laminate, Stone, and Vinyl planks are excellent options for pet-friendly living. Being man-made, they’re highly resistant to scratches—so sharp claws are less of a concern. They’re also water-resistant and non-porous, meaning spills and accidents won’t be absorbed into the planks like they can with solid or engineered timber.

How Much Colour Variation Should I Expect In My Floors?

With man-made flooring ranges such as Hybrid, Laminate, Vinyl, or Stone Composite planks, colour variation is minimal. These products are designed with consistent patterns and finishes, so what you see in a sample board will closely match what you get across the whole floor.

With engineered or solid timber, natural variation is part of their unique charm. No two boards are ever exactly the same—grain, knots, and colour tones can differ, even within the same species. This variation is what gives timber its authentic, one-of-a-kind character. It’s important to view timber samples as an indication rather than an exact match, as your finished floor will feature a beautiful mix of tones and natural features.

What’s The Difference Between Floating & Glued-Down Installation?

Floating installation is when boards with a “click” system are locked together over a foam underlay without the use of glue. It’s quicker, more cost-effective, and doesn’t require drying time. Because the floor sits over the subfloor, it’s very important that the base is level to minimise movement, as floating floors can sometimes have a slight “bouncy” feel. This method is common for Hybrid, Laminate, and selected Engineered timber ranges that feature a click system.

Glued-down installation provides a firmer feel underfoot and allows for seamless transitions between rooms without the need for expansion trims. Boards are glued directly to the subfloor or onto a specific acoustic underlay, which is often required for apartments (subject to STRATA approval). This method is suitable for Engineered timber

How Long Does Installation Take?

This is dependent on the size of your home and flooring choice and this will be covered in your free quote. Our Central Coast team handles everything from precise measurement to professional installation, ensuring a fast, stress-free process with minimal disruption.

What’s The Difference Between Engineered Timber & Hybrid Flooring?

Engineered Timber Flooring: Real timber veneer on a stable core, offering the look and feel of solid wood with added durability.

Hybrid Flooring: A waterproof, scratch-resistant option made from vinyl and limestone composite. Ideal for busy households, kitchens, and living areas.

Both are stylish and long-lasting. The right choice depends on your lifestyle and budget.

We all love our four-legged friends, so it is important to consider them when purchasing new flooring, especially if they cohabit in the home with the rest of the family!

Luxury Vinyl or Hybrid Floorings are two popular options nowadays. These products are very durable, as they are man-made.

These products are marketed as “waterproof,” but we like to say “water resistant.” These products are non-porous, like solid or engineered timber, which means that planks do not absorb spillages or other accidental damages.

Both products are extremely hard-wearing and hard to scratch! What also helps to make a product more durable is slight colour variation and texture, as it will hide small scratches well and will give a natural timber appearance.

How Much Colour Variation Should I Expect In My Floors?

To answer the question above, you first need to ask yourself what floors you are planning to install.

Native species such as Blackbutt or Spotted Gum are bound to have variations. It is impossible to understand that every tree is unique and comes from different locations/climates and soils that do affect the final colour.

When choosing a man-made product such as Vinyl or Hybrid planks, it is best to confirm with the supplier the number of repeats, as they can vary.

Last but not least are the engineered floorboards; although the product is technically man-made, the top layer consists of natural timber veneer. Unless it is a rustic grade, engineered timbers go through a sorting process at the factory for colour and grade. This means that although you will still have colour variations, they will be very close to one another.

What’s The Difference Between Floating & Glued-Down Installation?

Floating installation is a method that is used for boards that have a “clicking” system. They get locked together over the underlay without any use of glue. This installation takes less time and does not require any drying time. It is important to know that it is much more crucial that floors are levelled well before installation and even after might have a slight ‘bouncy’ effect as its simply sits over the existing subfloor. Products such as Vinyls and Hybrids come with attached built-in underlay; therefore, there is no need to purchase and install floating underlay separately.

Although if you wish to achieve a firm feel under the foot and seamless transitions between the door frames (no use of expansion trims in between), then the glued-down installation method is the way to go! Boards can be glued directly onto the subfloor or specific underlay if installation is being done upstairs or in an apartment block, which must be permitted by STRATA first.
